Mild Makeover for Norton Museum of Art

The Norton Museum of Art recently reinstalled a number of its galleries on the first and second floors.  By doing so they’ve created a more intuitive flow within their private collections and they’ve made the museum a cozier environment by including couches for sitting and looking at art, something I really like.  In my 20+ years visiting museums, I can’t recall many that have couches within the gallery space.  Benches yes, couches no.  And, I find this to be a great way to encourage visitors to linger and converse – to be more comfortable, overall, within the museum environment.

I really like what the new director, Hope Alswang, is doing at the Norton.  She’s making things happen and creating a dynamic energy that you can now feel as soon as you enter.

You can read all about these changes in my review at the Palm Beach ArtsPaper.
